Workbox’s CUT Enables Small to Mid-Sized Businesses to Manage Their Own Professional Web Sites With Ease

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., February 26, 2002 -- Workbox, Inc. today announced the relaunch of its website building services. The company, founded by Eric Weidner and John Miller, originally opened its doors in 1997, when tech companies were searching for new and creative ways to develop a presence on the Internet. The pair built their reputation by combining traditional design principals with the latest in technology to develop lively websites that were easy for customers to maintain. It was this work that led to the development of CUT (Content Updating Tool), a tool that has become a key selling point as Workbox moves forward in developing sites for small and mid-sized businesses.

After the market plunge, Weidner and Miller decided to team up with Miller’s mentor, Roger Black, and famed Mexican designer, Eduardo Danilo, to form the firm Danilo Black, USA. In January 2001, the firms merged. Today, Worbox announces that it will open its doors once again as a separate entity to focus on developing websites for small businesses and mid-sized businesses.

“Small to mid-sized businesses are at the heart of the American economy. They’re the real businesses that enable the economy to grow, and with the progress of technology, they can now afford to build and maintain a professional website,” said Eric Weidner, Workbox founder, president and CEO . “At Workbox, we are focused on helping these real businesses build the website they want while arming them with the tools they need to keep content updated and fresh.”

Since reopening its doors in October 2001, Workbox has signed on 6 customers and has deployed 4 websites. Current customers include Siegel Management, Tomlinson, Zisko, Morosoli & Maser, Haas & Najarian and Sparkpr.

One key selling point for Workbox’s services is CUT. CUT eases the pain of updating a website by creating a technology that anyone can use to add, edit and delete content. By using a simple web-based form, businesses can easily alter various sections of their websites, and even assign responsibility for specific sections. Standard features of CUT include editing capabilities for the following sections: homepage, customers, products, personnel, press releases and events. Additional features include permission(s), approval and preview functionality, as well as setting go live dates. Businesses can also use CUT for custom sections. Once created, any templated information can be updated through CUT.

“The information relevant to our audience is constantly changing and it has been a real burden to maintain our website. But, because so many customers and partners turn to the Internet to make business decisions, it is crucial that we utilize the website as a tool for marketing,” said Richard Allan Horning of Tomlinson, Zisko, Morosoli & Maser. “Workbox has not only created a fantastic website for us to accurately represent ourselves to the world, but they’ve given us the tools to keep it maintained.”
